We spend years learning about history, geography and mathematics—but rarely about ourselves.
Who should we love? How do we cope with failure? How can we build stronger relationships, find purpose and develop greater emotional resilience? These are life’s biggest questions, yet they’re seldom part of a traditional education.
Join Dr Sarah Stein Lubrano, writer, educator and former Head of Content at The School of Life, for an evening that brings The School of Life’s philosophy to life. Through a series of thought-provoking talks and open conversation, the session explores how greater self-awareness can help us navigate work, relationships and everyday challenges with more confidence and clarity.
Warm, intelligent and deeply practical, this event offers an accessible introduction to the ideas that have made The School of Life a global leader in emotional education.

The School of Life is a global organisation helping people learn, heal and grow. Founded in 2008, it draws on psychology, psychotherapy, philosophy, art and culture to develop greater calm, self-understanding, stronger relationships, deeper friendships and more fulfilling work and leisure.
Its ideas are shared through articles, books, an app, podcasts, therapeutic services, corporate programmes and a library of more than 500 films, turning emotional intelligence and self-knowledge into practical tools for everyday life.
The School of Life comes to Town Hall with tools for understanding ourselves and one another. Part of Vision Festival — three days in September drawing the neighbourhood’s institutions, venues and communities into one programme, presented by Town Hall and shaped with founding partners across the area — the session turns emotional intelligence into something practical: ideas you can take home and actually use, on relationships, work and the business of being a person.
