Wednesday 18 November 2026, 6.30–8pm
A calm, supportive evening for rediscovering your creativity. Taking poetry as a starting point, guided prompts invite you to write freely, without worrying about getting it right. There’s a chance to share what you’ve written, but no pressure to, and no previous writing experience is needed.
Open to Community Members of The School of Life, who book through The School of Life App. 18+.

The School of Life is a global organisation helping people learn, heal and grow. Founded in 2008, it draws on psychology, psychotherapy, philosophy, art and culture to develop greater calm, self-understanding, stronger relationships, deeper friendships and more fulfilling work and leisure.
Its ideas are shared through articles, books, an app, podcasts, therapeutic services, corporate programmes and a library of more than 500 films, turning emotional intelligence and self-knowledge into practical tools for everyday life.
The School of Life comes to Town Hall by Bottaccio with tools for understanding ourselves and one another. Following its Vision Festival session in September, the partnership continues with a series of evenings in the Salon for The School of Life’s Community Members, turning emotional intelligence into something practical: ideas you can take home and actually use, on relationships, work and the business of being a person.

This event takes place in the Salon, home to The Light Eaters until 20 December 2026. Co-curated by Mollie Dent-Brocklehurst, Co-Founder of DoubleMoon, and Virginia Damtsa, Director of Arts at Town Hall by Bottaccio, the exhibition traces a lineage of artists who, since the 1960s, have used light to alter the mind, from Brion Gysin, Liliane Lijn, Amanda Feilding and James Turrell to Loie Hollowell, Leo Villareal, Tomás Saraceno and Trevor Paglen.
The Light Eaters is presented by DoubleMoon in collaboration with Town Hall by Bottaccio.
