The evening features a tightly run 40-player tournament with a double-elimination format, cash prizes and a knockout finale, creating plenty of drama for competitors and spectators alike. But the tournament is only half the story.
Throughout the night, some of London’s finest selectors provide the soundtrack, digging deep into their record collections to keep the atmosphere buzzing from first roll to final match—no playlists, no algorithms, just needle to groove.

Backgammon & Wax was launched by Uncle Vibes and Doc Brown in April 2025, bringing together their shared love of backgammon, music and good company. What began as a one-off has since developed into a growing community of seasoned players and curious newcomers, with events popping up across London, New York City and Jamaica.
ABOUT YOUR HOST, DOC BROWN
Doc Brown is an acclaimed actor, writer, comedian, rapper and broadcaster. A familiar face across television, film and live performance, he has appeared in productions including After Life, Andor, Riviera, The Inbetweeners and Paddington 2.
Alongside his screen career, he has built a devoted following as a musician, live performer and presenter. In 2025, he co-founded Backgammon & Wax with Uncle Vibes, bringing together his love of music, community and backgammon to create one of the UK’s most original social events.
Vision Festival brings the neighbourhood together across three days of events, presented by Town Hall in collaboration with founding partners from across the area. Backgammon & Wax brings its own spin to the programme, blurring the line between tournament and party. It’s competitive without being exclusive, social without losing the thrill of the game, and designed to get seasoned players and first-timers around the same board.
